Jewish Recipes --> Recipes --> Purim --> Hamantashen

Hamantaschen a traditional Purim delight, is a three-cornered pastry filled with mohn (poppy seed) or other sweet filling.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 Cups of flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 Cup sugar
  • 1 cup margarine softened
  • 1 tbsp orange juice
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp orange rind
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease cookie sheets.

Place all ingredient in  large mixer bowl and beat together.  You may add  drop more juice or flour, depending on consistency of dough.  Roll dough into a ball.  Divide into four parts.

Proceed to assemble and bake for 20 minutes.

Variation

  • Substitute 1/2 cup of oil for 1 cup margarine and juice of 1 lemon for 1 tablespoon orange juice and 1 teaspoon orange rind.
