Stir-Fry London Broil (p. 86):

  • 1 Large yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, washed and dried
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, washed dried
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 (1.25 ounce) packet taco or fajita seasoning mix
  • 1/2 pound London Broil or flit split
  • 1 cup minute rice, the kind that cooks in 5-minutes
  • 4 (10-inch) flour Tortillas

Equipment list:
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • measuring spoons
  • large (12 - 14 inch) frying pan
  • wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • garlic press
  • plate or paper towel
  • microwave


  1. On your cutting board, with a very sharp knife, cut the opinion in half and then slice into very think semi-circles.

  2. Place the oil into the frying pan.  Turn the heat to medium.  When the oil is ht, add the onion. Let the onion cook for 10 minutes, stirring it with your wooden spoon or silicon spatula.  If it starts to brown, lower the heat.  You want the onion to get golden and caramel-colored.

  3. On you cutting board, with a very sharp knife, cut the red and green peppers in half.  Throw out the seeds and stem.   Cut away any white part from the inside.  Slice the peppers into very think strips.  Add to the frying pan.

  4. With your garlic press, mince the garlic right into the pan.

  5. Add 2 teaspoons of the taco or fajita seasoning packet.  Save the rest, you will need some for the rice.  Mix with a wooden spoon to get it into the vegetables.

  6. On you cutting board, with a very sharp knife, slice the steak into very think strips.

  7. Add the meat to the pan.  It will stick to the pan for a few minutes but it will release when it is ready, usually in 4 -5 minutes.

  8. Once the meat releases, use you wooden spoon or silicon spatula to toss the meat with vegetables. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring often.

  9. While the meat is cooking, prepare the rice according to the directions on the box, except that when you pour the water into the pot, add 2 teaspoons of the taco or fajita seasoning packet to the water.   The rice will soak up these spices as it cooks.

  10. Place the tortillas on a plate or paper towel.  Warm the tortilla in the microwave oven for 15 seconds.

  11. When the rice and steak are done, spoon some of the steak and vegetables and some of the rice into the enter of each flour tortilla. Fold each fajita in half, like a taco.

The bracha (blessing) for London broil is "sheHakol"
