Noodle Kugel
submitted by Marilyn Goodrich

Ingredients: Dairy

  • 1 package (1lb.) egg noodles
  • 1 pound cream cheese
  • 2 pints sour cream
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • Brown raisins
Boil noodles and strain under cold water. Mix all of above except 1/2 pint sour cream. Put in well-greased casserole dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Take out and spread rest of sour cream on top.
Mix with fingers:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup light brown sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons Flour

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • 2 Tablespoons margarine or butter

Sprinkle the above mixture over the kugel. Then sprinkle 1/2 Cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans on top.

Bake again at 325 degrees for another 1/2 hour.

Cooking tips: Usually I cut the ingredients in half and cook it in a 9-inch square pan, but I have made it in round casseroles and many other types of dishes. It goes well with broiled salmon and fresh asparagus.
