Cheese Danishes
Recipe Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 5 lbs. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 sticks margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. water
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3-4 tsp. salt
  • 4 oz. yeast dissolved in 1 c. warm water

Filling:

  • 2 lbs. farmer cheese
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. flour
  • 4 eggs
Directions:

Combine dough ingredients and knead until it forms a smooth ball. Set aside and let rise until double in size, about 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out the dough and cut into squares. Mix filling ingredients. Place a spoonful of cheese filling in the middle of each square and pinch 2 opposite edges together. Brush top with Karo syrup or apricot jam and bake for 20 minutes.
