Pears Cooked in Wine Sauce
  • 2 lb. firm cooking pears, peeled
  • 2 cups medium red or white wine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • pinch of ground cinnamon

    Stand pears in an ovenproof baking dish, pour over the wine, then sprinkle with sugar, cloves and cinnamon.

    Bake in a 350 degree preheated over, for 45 minutes or until the pears are tender and the liquor is thick and syrupy. Serve hot or cold.
