Chocolate Chip Applesauce Cake
  • 1 ¾ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 6 ounce bag of chocolate chips

Sift flour, soda, salt and cinnamon together. In a separate bowl, cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time.

Add the flour mixture alternately with the applesauce to the sugar mixture. Beat until smooth.

Stir in ½ of the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.

Note: Check eggs for blood before using-- Eggs that contain trace amount of blood are trief and are not kosher.

Depending on the brand of shortening and chocolate chips you use will determine if the recipe is Parve or Dairy
