Spiced Pickled Prunes
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound dried prunes
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice
  • 3 sticks cinnamon, broken in small pieces

Place prunes in a wide-bottom saucepan. Add remaining ingredients; stir.

Bring to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, cover, 20 minutes or until prunes are soft and plumped.

Stir occasionally to keep prunes covered with syrup.

If necessary to concentrate liquid, uncover pan during last few minutes of cooking. Serve hot or cold.
