Jewish Cookbooks - Jewish Recipes of the West - Presents: Hillel Academy of Denver Kosher Cookbook

Qty:

$18
Recipes Grade A+:
From Hillel Academy of Denver

Tried and true recipes: tried and true education

Is what keeps Hillel families and our Jewish People together forever.

Everyone enjoys getting tried and true recipes, either from a special cookbook, a close friend, or a relative. When preparing the delicious dish and awaiting the outcome, memories come flashing back to one's mind about the people who have passed it on, and the traditions and lessons that came along with, and although there are some new trends, and modernization in the way we cook today, our basis for Jewish cooking is deeply rooted and remains strong and constant.

The education at Hillel Academy is also tried and true. It is a school that has been deeply rooted in Denver for a long time, constantly going through growth and change. It is a melting pot of many wonderful families, each adding their own flavor to the school, to make the recipe for education right for our children.

This cookbook was inspired by a past Hillel cookbook entitled, "The Great Chefs Cookbook." complied by Michael Schreiber and Annette Silver. At the time I was new to the school and to Denver and, as a newly wed, this cookbook became my cooking and community Bible. Not only did I have tired and true recipes to us, but I learned a lot about the people and community from it. Thirteen years later I am still using that cookbook and having fond memories of the people with whom I have shared so much.

So too I hope that when you use this new Hillel cookbook, you too will enjoy the recipes and remember fondly the Hillel families and good memories that came along with it. Just as we need tried and true recipes to eat, to give us life, we also need tried and true education to keep our traditions alive. As it says in Pirkei Avot 21.... " If there is no flour there is no Torah, and if there is no Torah, there is no flour." Thanks to every who shared in this endeavor.
